Breastfeeding, classic food for the newborn baby. The first week of August marks World Breastfeeding Week. Breastfeeding is the best food for all babies until the first year. Breastfeeding offers many health benefits to both mother and baby. Breastfeed will start immediately after child birth.

Benefits of breastfeeding

Breastfeed will leads to good growth, good strength, longevity and good health of children, Carbohydrates, fats, proteins. Breast milk contains all the nutrients a baby needs during the first 6 months of normal growth and development, including vitamins, minerals and water. It is widely believed that breastfeeding is the best nutrition for human babies.

Fennel seeds

Fennel seeds help to increase the secretion of breast milk. Make tea with Fennel seeds and drink it. Boil a teaspoon of Fennel seeds in a cup of water, strain the seeds and drink. Add a teaspoon of honey and a pinch of turmeric to enhance the taste. Drink this tea two or three times daily. Fennel can be mixed with salad or vegetables.

Shatavari herb

It is important in Ayurvedic herbs that help greatly in increasing the secretion of breast milk. shatavari herb available in tablet form is widely recommended for use by young mothers. However, it should not be taken on its own but in the name of an Ayurvedic doctor.

Cinnamon powder

Breast milk secretion may increase if breastfeeding mothers add a pinch of cinnamon. Lightly fry the cinnamon and keep in a glass bottle. Drink half a teaspoon of honey mixed with a pinch of cinnamon daily or you can mix it with a pinch of cinnamon powder while drinking milk.

Cumin seeds

Cumin is an excellent herb that improves digestion. Cumin seeds can stimulate the secretion of breast milk. Young mothers can mix cumin seeds with a little sugar and eat it with warm milk before going to bed. You can simply put cumin seeds in your mouth and chew them.


Those who add garlic daily in their cooking will also add garlic to the fresh cooking for youngsters. Garlic can be used in any form beyond cooking. Green garlic can take up to 2 or 3. Some babies may find it difficult to drink garlic to avoid the smell of garlic as the rot of garlic comes in breast milk. They can be boiled in milk and eaten. Garlic is a good herb to increase breast milk secretion.


Ginger can be used in regular tea making. Ginger has a special place in food products. Ginger powder is easy to use from time to time for young mothers if they are powdered and processed. Eat ginger powder and be added to tea.

Anise seeds

Anise seeds can be added as a spice in the diet or you can drink tea with anise alone. Anise seeds are good for breastfeeding. Take a teaspoon of anise seeds and boil it in a cup of water and drink it with filtered honey. Up to two cups daily can be taken safely.

Almond milk

Almond milk is also great for breastfeeding mothers. Soak 5 or 6 almonds daily and peel the next morning. Add this to the mix, grind and add milk to distill. You can even give twice. Almond milk gives energy to lactating mothers.

Be hydrated

Breastfeeding mothers need to keep their body hydrated. Liquid foods should be added in moderation. Liquid formula should be added as a tumbler of water or milk before breastfeeding. Breast milk is available to the baby without interruption by keeping it hydrated.


Some of Ayurvedic medicines for young mothers who are breastfeeding are vidaryadi lehyam, Vidaryadi Ghritam, Shatavari lehyam etc. are recommended for breastfeeding. However, it is safe for breastfeeding mothers to consult an Ayurvedic doctor and take these Ayurvedic medicines after consulting them.
