Add turmeric, chili powder and salt to the fish pieces and fry until half cooked.
Then add 2 spoons of oil and add onions, green chilies and curry leaves and sauté until golden brown.
Then add chopped ginger and garlic to it and sauté till the green leaves wilt.
Then add the fried and chopped fish and sauté further.
Add coriander leaves, mix with mashed yams and pat it like a vada with your hands.
Beat the egg in a mixer without lumps. Spread the bread crumbs evenly in a wide pan.
Then dip the battered fish balls in egg and roll them in bread crumbs.
If you take all the vadas like this and put them in the freezer for 10 minutes,the bread crumbs will stick well to the vadas.
After draining 1/4 cup of oil, I put six or more vadas in a stick pan and fry until golden on both sides and serve.
