Ingredients
- 1 cup Black lentils (Overnight soaked black lentils)
- 1 cup Rajma (Red Beans)
- 1 cup Chopped onion
- 1 cup Tomatoes (Mashed tomatoes)
- 1/4 tbsp Turmeric
- 1 tbsp Chili powder
- 1 tbsp Coriander powder
- 1 tbsp Ginger
- 1 tbsp Garlic
- 1 tbsp Cumin seeds
- 1 tbsp Mustard oil
- 1 tbsp Fresh cream
- Chopped green chilies (As required)
- Salt (As required)
Instructions
- Put the cooker in the oven and add the black lentils and rajma as well as the water and bring to the boil. When the water starts to boil add a little salt, turmeric and mustard oil. Bake on low heat until 7 to 8 whistles come out.
- Pour the oil into a separate pan and when the oil dries add the minced ginger garlic paste and fry for 20 to 30 seconds. Then add chopped onion and fry. Now add cumin and fry till onion turns golden brown.
- Add tomato puree and cook for 3 to 4 minutes, then add green chillies and red chilli powder and fry for another 2 minutes. Now the spice is ready. Turn off the stove.
- After frying the lentils for 8 to 10 whistles open the cooker lid and add the lentils with the boiled spices. Add a little butter at this point to enhance the flavor.
- Now the delicious Dal Makhani is ready to serve. You can taste it along with bread, chapati or paratha of your choice.
